The Book
This volume traces the Russian presence in Rome during the second half of the 18th century: the sculptors trained in Roman academies and workshops, and the collectors from St. Petersburg who viewed the city as the center of European taste. Many of the sculptural collections now preserved at the State Hermitage Museum trace their origins to that era of travel, commissions, and acquisitions.
Following the presentation
Screening of the documentary *Masterpieces of the Hermitage: Leonardo da Vinci, the Benois Madonna*, dedicated to one of only two works by Leonardo preserved in Russia.
